this weekend's theme
This is my most favorite bench in the whole wide world.
Ohhh I love this! Not only do I love the style, but that colour is so fun. I'd have this as a coffee table this very instant if I could!
~ benches ~
I found this gem two years ago and couldn't bring myself to cough up $200 for it. It was huge, vintage, and had the perfect patina. I wanted it for a coffee table. So I just told myself I ought to try and make one.
Well, I'm not afraid anymore. :) However I just couldn't swing whipping it out this week. Instead, I decided to do a little digging in google to see what I could find for further inspiration. And was I ever pleasantly surprised. :)
Ahh!! This one is so authentically factory. Isn't it wonderful? Love their photo studio too.

Oh you've got to be kidding me! Although this is a mini bench, wouldn't it be fab in life size? My mind's spinning full tilt now...

How original are these? I just love the old world vibe they offer.

I just LOVE a good vintage bench design. Although this one looks a tad tipsy, I LOVE the lines.
Oh goodness... now I want my new coffee table bench more than ever! Guess I'd better start

Fun benches, Donna! Can't wait to see what you do! Happy weekend!...hugs...Debbie
ReplyDeleteOh, man! You know I need that Coke bench! I'm inspired by all of those awesome benches, though. I immediately turned to my husband and told him I needed some more wood from his grandpa's old barn. I'm definitely making one in the very near future! Have a great weekend!

Really enjoyed the selection of benches you shared !
ReplyDeleteThose are fabulous benches! I especially love the very first one. The swervy detail at the bottom of the legs is a fun little twist.
ReplyDeleteSo, I thought of you today when I read Cathe Holden's post today over at Just Something I made. I think you would really love her stuff. She's more crafty than build-y, but her work would look right at home in your place. :) Here's the link: http://justsomethingimade.com/2011/03/anything-goes-pennant-bunting-garland/
Have fun . . .

Oh yay! I actually have a bench to share! I made my Shabby Chic Cottage Garden Bench from an old weathered white round picnic table bench. I used to own a craft store in Richmond, IL. it's a little antique shop town. The shops are all old two story houses from the mid 1800's, so they are all in a row and the backyards are just that, yards, not alleys! Anyway, my backyard butted up to another store owner's backyard and he had this sole bench seat sitting outside under a little crab apple tree. it was old, weathered big time from rain and snow, and all chippy. He let me have it and I painted a cottage garden scene on it. Everyone that came into the store would compliment it. I put it out each spring, summer and fall as a decoration in my yard :)

It's so ironic that you featured benches this week. I just pulled mine from my booth. It's an astounding 55" of chippy robins-egg blue but just wasn't selling during the winter. I'm inspired for the spring! XOX
ReplyDeleteDonna that 2nd bench is way cool, and love the little coke bench, how sweet is that! Great party thanks for hosting! Lezlee
ReplyDeleteGreat post, Donna. Love the benches and especially the rustic, natural, well-loved patina evident on each one. Thanks for hosting all this inspiration. Love your blog and am your newest follower.
