WLYS 10 - Oh Canada meets Southern Humidity

World's Longest Yard Sale 10 - Oh Canada meets Southern Humidity via Funky Junk Interiors

Well friends, first of all, I'm over the top overwhelmed at the support you've been showing Cindy! Just speechless. And so is the family. So on behalf of all of us, I'd like to thank-you ever so much!

I haven't really heard much updating today yet but I do know she's still on chemo, so that means something is still going right. YES!! As for keeping up with her, I along with two of Cindy's dear friends created the idea of firing up a public Facebook Group to continue to offer her support.

So... back to the road trip. You may remember before I head down south some of my humidity ramblings. This lil west coast Canadian is made out of wax so the humidity rumours FREAKED. ME. OUT.

... video in this post ...

I didn't want to feel sick or have to crawl under junk tables gasping for air and vacant mud puddles for relief. I studied pictures of real southern people standing up with smiles, wondering how they did that out there. Were they faking normal or what? :)

Upon the advice of so many, I kept running back out to shop for humidity's finest. I picked up athletic gear like I was some kinda athlete or something.

Did you know there's socks that don't allow your feet to sweat?! Neither did I. But I picked up those too. And more.

But at the end of the day, I had to get out there and see for myself what all the fuss was about.

And here's how it all went down...

In a nutshell? I did NOT melt! Whoop!! And I wanna go back for more. So what does that tell you?

I'm sure I survived due to all that $$$$ wacky athletic gear. RIGHT?!?!?

  2. Hi Donna!
Love your videos of your trip. I can sure tell that you had a fun time down here.
The humidity hugs you? I had a laugh at that one. I guess I must not be the 'hugger' I thought I was...'cause, I think the humidity crowds my personal space! ha!
Saying Prayers to God on Cindy's behalf. God is faithful!

  4. Girl, love the video. I have thick curly hair so the humidy really does a number on my hair! We now live in Texas and when people complain about the humidity, I just laugh.. I used to live in Louisiana, wow, you would walk out the door and feel wet! The way to make the sweet tea is to add the sugar while the tea is hot, then add the ice. Only way to desolve the sugar correctly. Love the accent you picked up. Agree with eveyone above about Round Top, must be your next trip. Prayer for Cindy coming her way.

  7. I just returned from a road trip to North Carolina and let me tell ya...my hair was frizzy for 5 days straight! And i'm from Texas, where we have humidity, but the closer we got to the Atlantic the more my hair poofed! crazy.crazy.crazy. all I can say is thank goodness for scrunchies!

I think you imitate the southern accent better than we could imitate the Canadian accent.

  8. Your video cracks me up. Humidity does a number on me too. Nothing like feeling like you have a cinder block on your chest and a dead poodle on your head.

  10. I just could not imagine a day without sweet tea! I live in Texas and this summer went on vacation in New Mexico, not a place around had sweet tea. Thankfully once we returned home I had some in the fridge waiting for me! haha!

  11. I was waiting for a Hell Ya! response to something.
I am sure you would love the Texas junk shows but you will be shocked at the prices. Fun place to look but I know you shop more like I do. (Dumpsters and curbs.)
There is a fine junk show in Minnesota coming up soon - and they even share your accent!
