A new sofa inspires the boy's bedroom makeover

new sofa for teen boy's bedroom makeover 2012 at Funky Junk Interiors

Well that was totally unexpected! A trip to the thrift store yesterday landed this amazing love seat that is perfect for the boy's bedroom makeover!

... continued ...

This poor project got put on the back burner for so long. But with the new amazing addition to our little family, (Cody's Big Brother, Ben), we discussed firing up the boy's bedroom project again at long last so they'd have somewhere cool to hang. Just the two of them. Away from my girlie stuff. Works for me!

The couch simply sealed the deal.

I love me some thrift stores. With blue black and red in mind, here's how it all came together yesterday after work.

The sofa is in 'like new' condition, and for only $50 (it was on sale) I basically stole it. I had been watching for a blue to cool down a feature deep red wall in the bedroom so this is PERFECT.

The duvet cover has these red crosses along with some blue splashed in a border. Not sure about the border but loved the crosses so I have some ideas in mind. Sweet fabric!

Oh!! We snagged an offwhite area carpet too! I think it's even wool. For $20! Wow. It's amazing.

Some awesome had started to take place in the room. We were using the chalkboard wall...

But... the panic put together Costo folding table desk with it's unfinished 2x4 pencil holder was just a cry for help. Coolness coming soon!

But first, those walls have got to get finished! I have a sofa in the back of my truck after all.

I think this weekend is (happily) booked!

  2. Can't wait to see the finished room - been waiting for updates. I have to say I'm always excited to see what shows up in your blog. I have a picture of your shed in just about every home reno file folder on my computer - it's the inspiration for my own shed reno hopefully happening as soon as my Father in law drops off his extra miter saw. I'm also the proud owner of an old wooden ladder... in my library.... being used as a bookshelf. :) I love how you've inspired me to see beyond the box. :)

  3. can't wait to see the room finished! I have a 13 y/o son who needs to simplify in his (20x40) room, and I'd love to get him room for a loveseat up there, where he could hang with his friends!

  5. Ahh.... Mom, you don't call it a 'love seat' when it's for Cody's room. It's a gaming couch, crash spot, man chair... you get the idea. :) Looking forward to the new reveal! :)

  7. Hi! I arrived here via Betsy's blog. Love your blog! Great photography and ideas! One tiny word of caution , be sure to check that sofa for bed bugs. It's probably fine but doesn't hurt to be safe...
Joined your site and looking forward to seeing more of your creativity!
