New tools are prettier than jewelry to the eyes of a wannabe builder.
With the arrival of my new cordless drill, I needed a few accessories to work alongside it.
Enter... my new purse. :)
These Makita tool kits are really difficult to land. They only come out during certain promotions and I've been waiting forEVER to upgrade my own. So when I came across this one the other day, it had to come home with me.
I really really REALLY like these kits so I can carry whatever I need wherever I'm working. It's hard to forget a bit or a socket when you have them all with you.
I won't say they're the highest quality out there, but they last the average DIYer a good long time. My last kit lived through an entire house renovation plus and have proved their worth.
And how I wish I could show you how all these fancy little bits and pieces work! But I'm not quite ready. This video explains why.
So.... ready to learn a few basics for beginners?

Congrats it was time you got yourself some new jewelry. And you crack me up with your video. Of course you don't know how to call those bits and pieces (actually I think some of them are called bits :-) ), knowing how to use them is so much more important. Now go on and drill something!
ReplyDeleteHave fun with your new toy!
Funky Girl you are on to something great! Tutorials for tools for women. Your blog is already fun! So study up on those names of accessories and I'll be waiting to start my next project. Hurry! I am way behind on my DIY and my house is falling apart!
ReplyDeleteAwesome stuff! You just showed people all the way down in West Virginia your new tool set. My wife mothers side of the family is from St. Stephens, Canada. If I spelled that right!
ReplyDeleteYou are so much fun!!! I love that Canadian accent - eh? ;)
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to learning more <3
You are so adorable! I love your accent! Sharing this on facebook!
ReplyDeleteNot everyone can understand the excitement from getting new tools...I'm right there with you and I'm also jealous!!!
ReplyDeleteI just got excited when I saw that tool box! I have a really nice one of my own and my HUSBAND steals (he says borrows) it from me. I keep taking it back from him and hiding it under our bed, and he keeps taking it out and USING it. You'd think he'd go buy one of his own! LOL!
ReplyDeleteok so you are just WAY too darling. LOVE your new PURSE - I bet it 'goes' with your steel toed work boots right? xo

So looking forward to the tutorials!
ReplyDeleteLook at you all giggly and GLOWING! This is better than jewels, even if you bought it for yourself. I love how you say this is a limited edition promotional piece and you had to take advantage of it. I would do the same thing, even if it mean eating peanut butter for a month, or two.
ReplyDeleteHow about an 8 week run of how to use different sections of your new purse?
I used to know all the "proper" names but still refer to it as thingee and dodad and you-know-what-I-mean. A good refresher is past due.
Oh the things you will build!
A few years ago I didn't care at all about tools! but since I began doing little projects around the house I knew having the right tool is so important! I'm now giving myself tools as a Christmas present! I understand your excitement, that blue purse is great!
ReplyDeleteI am so clumsy with tools. I have so wanted to learn, so this will be a blessing for me.
ReplyDeleteLove it. I got a Makita cordless drill and impact driver for my birthday and I LOVE it.
ReplyDeleteDonna first I want to tell you I love your accent. I also love your new bit set. Girl
ReplyDeleteyou got paddle bits, wood bits, metal bits,
phillips bits, socket bits...dang girl that
is one nice set. I have a set for my drill
but it's not that nice or big. That will
come in handy. You did good!!! I have my
own tool bag and drill set and hubby knows
hands off on mine. He has his own.
I just happened upon your blog today through BlogHer and I'm loving it! I wanted to see if you have a tutorial for the toilet paper holder that's pictures in your banner? Also, do you have a "Search" box that I am overlooking?
ReplyDeleteWelcome Katie!
DeleteThe toilet paper crate post is here although it really isn't much of a tutorial... you just screw a license plate onto a crate and yer done! :)

The search box is located on the right sidebar right under the red Pinterest button.
Donna!
ReplyDeleteI never get tired of hearing your accent! Your new drill set looks wonderful! It's chock full of goodies.
I'm like you-- I can use most of them, but don't know the proper names. Honey gets so impatient when he tells me to hand him that (fill in the blank) and I'm just staring at him like a calf lookin' at a new gate!
You'll figure it all out-- and I'll watch and learn vicariously through you! And then I'll make Honey proud!

I have a Dremel purse myself! I call those things in your 'purse'..."doo-hickey's" and "thing-a-ma-bobs" and "the thingy that you use to make the other thingy tighter". Have fun you Mighty Makita Maven!
ReplyDeleteOh wow, I'm really looking forward to this! I've been following your blog for a little while, though I don't know if I've commented before. I'm really enjoying your blog!
ReplyDeleteP.S. You don't have an accent! Listen to those Americans calling the kettle black ;)

ReplyDeleteOMG! You are so cute and Canadian! I'm dying over the adorable accent and loving this video series!!!
