Gitter Done! - volume 6

Welcome to

"Gitter Done!" - volume 6

I gave you permission HERE to walk away from the computer to get some overdue DIY or non DIY tasks done and over with so you could blog allll about it.

Misery loves company. :) "Gitter Done!" and join in!
 Knock knock..

Who's there?

Don't show this to...

Don't show this to who?

Don't show this to your followers or they may stop following you!

Or maybe like you even more. :)

What's that you say? You want a closer look? Okay!

Oh my word is right!!

I remember this day well. I was trying to walk from point A to point B and  I #1 tripped... and #2, knocked a bunch of crap down around me. And then I lost it. I started chucking stuff into the middle of the garage so I could MOVE.
And then a neighbour wanted to borrow my extension cord. Which was buried. Which I found. But then he came into this crap happy shack to plug in and SAW this. (die die die I did)

From that horror reveal day on, I knew I hit bottom. And did something about it.

I started a BAD JUNK challenge with the Facebook group! I personally needed the support and motivation and in return, their help motivated themselves! Quite a few joined in!

So what did we accomplish? Encouragement for each other. And this is what it did for me.

I gutted 95% of the contents out of that Sanford and Son style storage unit.  And went to the dump. AND went to the local burn pile many times over.  And the result...

... was bliss.

I even removed every single tool off that wall and rearranged.

And then I ventured indoors.

And I couldn't stop.

I don't always live like this! (much...) A thrift store van had taken my clothes storage away with them leaving me with... bed and floor storage. Nice! A few garbage bags later...

... and I had this. Ahhh....

And then I went into the kitchen. And then the closets. And and and and... I couldn't stop!

All thanks to my BAD JUNK attendies on Facebook!

GD Host for Hire!

 I gotta fess up, friends.

Gitter Done was developed to encourage you to get off the computer to tackle overdue tasks that needed your time. And then offered you a chance to blog about it so you got your fix in. :)

But honestly? I'm thinking the event simply isn't regular enough to be as effective as it could be. If only once a month, it gets forgotten. And then it requires constant promotion.  I feel holding the event on a more constant basis would be more effective, as well as not needing promotion or reminders. It needs to turn into a habit. :)

However, I'm not able to run SNS every weekend plus do GD right. So, if there's anyone out there that wishes to carry on the premis of GD and what it ultimately stands for, please email me and let's chat. I'll help promote the first one and from there, she's your baby. :)

If you feel GD is a good fit for you, please email me at

signmakergirl@hotmail.com

Please include your blog address and your thoughts on where you'd like to take GD.

And yeah.. you may wish to talk about this change, so feel free to comment. I'll chat with ya. :)

Next Gitter Done
undetermined at this time, so stay tuned!

Rules for the Gitter Done Challenge:

1. This is an exclusive linkup event. (not to be confused with a regular link event) Please link up only if your project was inspired by GD.

2. In your post, please tell us how GD inspired you.

3. Your linkup does not have to be DIY related, just a project you've been stalling on.

4. Please include a before and after pic, so we can appreciate all you did!

5. Please link back to the event by text or button. (see BUTTONS section in header area if you desire)

6. Please keep the 'jest of your project' new to the net until your GD reveal. (teasers or shoot off posts are fine!) This will give us all a reason to wish to tune in to see what's brand new!

7. Linkup will be active for 1 week so check back often!

If your link was removed, please reread the rules and try again. Sorry, no blog home page links (must be linked to your intended post)  nor general linkups for this one.

  2. Oh My Word! You are the grand winner of all gitter done projects. I cannot believe how much you got accomplished. You must be exhausted! And energized with the organized space. I am moving all my contents from a second home into our primary home and there has been a non-stop gitter done train rolling thru my life at the moment.

Well, if it weren't for your blog I don't believe anything would have been worked on here at my house. Serious about that one!

  7. WOWW !!
You have totally inspired me to purge purge !! If you walk in my house it looks neat and tidy (at this moment but won't last long ) but ..... open a closet and it might just tumble all down ~ Most of my closets are like that and it is ridiculous !!
Thank you so much for inspiring me to get rid of stuff ~

    xoxo

  10. HURRAY! Your house looks like my house! I'm not alone. Better than that... mine can look like the photos of yours someday too! I just have to take it one day at a time like you have.

  11. Hiya,
WELL, CONGRATULATIONS. That was a HUGE transition.
From doing Feng Shui consulting, I know, that you must be 'tired' (but happy). That is a giant energetic shift and your body will need time to readjust to the new. Love all that new space... now the NEW can come in. Be that 'space' or 'new good'.

I can TOTALLY relate, as in my craft closet is where I store all my recyclables for future craft projects, and it's a mini version of your garage. I never dared to take realisitic before pictures. I have some 'interim' pictues now, and, granted it is a lot better (ie. it now holds more stuff...!!!) but it's still a 'disaster'. ... bad feng shui.

So, what I did early in the year, is set myself a challenge and it worked. I intend to do another one soon.

  13. This was the firs time saw your "Gitter Done".

I got off the computer and scrubbed out my nasty shower. I had all the stuff to get the grout cleaned, but have had a bad case of the lazy's!! Should have taken before and after photos. I love this idea of Gitter Done!

    You really inspired me! Thanks.

  18. I laughed out loud when I saw the "before" pics of your garage. You did a great job cleaning and organizing the space. I'm guilty of shoving things in drawers and closets for "quick" cleans... you have inspired me to pull a "gitter done" today!

    Lori

P.S. I am one of your followers in the second category of your "knock, knock" joke, I like you even more after I saw this post. :)
