front doors
I recently worked on my front door in my spare time around making my desk, and I dunno, just whipped this little number out on a whim. Do you like?
Then I thought, well, it's the same burgundy as my old door, so I changed it over to the one below.
But when the pizza guy refused to come into the driveway and I got a hay delivery instead, I decided I had gone too far, and changed it to...

this cute little thang. Isn't the colour fabulous?!?
But then my neighbor called and asked what blue would look good on hers. After I helped her out, I decided I had to have blue too, so...
we made these happen. But suddenly I felt like I lost my own identity and desired something...
RED. Yeah! But which red. Hmmm.....
And you would NOT believe what happened next!
I found these at the local thrift the very next day for a really good deal, so I took'em all so I can change my mind anytime I get that... change the door whim! GIDDY!
I could only wish my front door looked as fabulous as one of these numbers. I mean, look at those wonderful colours and patinas! Youch! So fun!
Confession time. I put this 'front door' category in the mix so I'd be enticed to redo my own front door. But it didn't happen. So... I need YOUR inspiration!
I'm so looking forward to seeing what you've done with your front doors! Bring'em on in the 3rd themed linkup this weekend!
Let's talk front doors! In comments, share with us,
What would your dream front door look like?
Next themed linkup is...

My door is just black. lol. But it's better than what it was. I wish I could do a cool color, but we have HOA rules. Blah!
ReplyDeleteLovin' those doors! Ours is wood, nice wood, so we can't/won't paint it. But I love seeing the cool colors!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for hosting another great party!

Those doors are lovely! Thanks so much for hosting, Donna.

Thanks for hosting, Donna! Like many other people, our doors are black. I love them, but oh that purple and blue are BEAUTIFUL!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend and thanks for the inpsiration. :)

That made me laugh....all your paint colors and options for the front door...very clever. I was thrilled to have front doors as a topic this week because I just finished painting mine. I linked it up....but it's not appearing. I tried to link again and it said it was already there. I'll try again. Poo! And I was so excited to show it off.
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting Donna! I am so excited to see what everyone comes up with because I need a door reno asap!
ReplyDeleteNever mind....it's working...yippee! Just needed to close my browser and open again and there it was.
ReplyDeleteI love all of the door pictures! We painted our door red and I love how bright and cheerful it looks now! Thanks for hosting, Donna!
ReplyDeleteWish I had a door post for you. I did find a photo of our fall decor door just the other day. Maybe I'll scan it lol!
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting!
"this cute little thang" is about the same color as my front door. I think the color was called "king arthur red". I love how it looks against our grey and white house.
ReplyDeleteHave a great long weekend@!
I loooove arched doors! Thanks for hosting another great party.
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting Donna! I've always wanted a craftsman door with a little window and shelf but I have to say I'm intrigued by the blue doors in your pics.
ReplyDeleteI Love all those doors! You found some really great ones to share. Just imagine if you actually were changing your door that often - poor Cody's head would spin around!
ReplyDeleteHope you're having a good little break.
I'm hoping to get some ideas from everyone on how I can redo my front door with my light red bricks. It's a weird burgundy color right now. Not digging it.
ReplyDeleteOh our front door! Oh gosh I need a special Gitter Done for that one. The front door and very ugly little rain cover over it was of course the first thing we saw upclose when we inspected our house. It also was the first thing we decided definitely had to go. Of course it is still there. We have this bright white, plastic door that is sooooo ugly with a homemade (in the bad sense of the word), ugly little shelter over it. we really want to change our door but we can't agree on the how. I want a wooden door, preferably black. My Love doesn't want the paint, so wants a plastic or aluminum one and thinks black will look terrible. I guess a new front door is not in the books for 2010, maybe 2011.....
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you here, you had gone very quiet on us the past days and I was worrying if everything was ok.
Our apts got a new paint job. It looks great! BUT....they didn't paint the part of the door that hides behind the frame. So our door is this great fall chocolate brown with maroon trim that you can only see when the door is open! HA!!
ReplyDeleteI love all those red doors. Thanks for hosting every week and for the themed section. Have a great weekend.

OH I'm SO inspired by all of your front door goodness! We had a red front door in our last house...I LOVED it~!
ReplyDeleteThat purple/fuschia door and windown are the PRETTIEST thing I have seen in a while - just absolutely LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteahhhh that barn door is to die for - take the hay, take the hay!! Your selection of red doors - oh yum! What a fun link up party!
ReplyDeleteFun Door post! Thanks for the Sat. Nite Special!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun linkup! Black doors are my favorite, but I love red on some houses. I've been wanting to paint our front door, and now I'm motivated!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE front doors!!! You have some gorgeous pictures of them on here. Thanks for hosting each week :)
ReplyDeleteHi Miss Donna,
ReplyDeleteI haven't been around much because I haven't figured out how to blog and "gitter done" on projects at the same time. But I did link to the first completed project. Alas I have house guests this weekend so they are interfering with my desire to paint some stuff. :) So I don't think I will be ready to play along on the 8th. School is back in session for me once again. Sigh. Once I really truly am done I wonder what I will do with all my free time?
Thank you for hosting. Have a happy Labor Day!
Oh my... whadda party! BTW, I simply googled front doors and all these wonderful images popped into my screen. They are so fun!
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to be missed, but we've been having some fun fun fun! We went on a last minute camping trip to the wilderness in ATV world with some friends. Boy do I have a GD project to share with you. Mine's all about taking time with friends and trying new things. This has been my most ultimate GD project to date. :)
Donna
I love arched antique doors with beautiful hinges :)

Thanks for the side bar feature. I am loving my mantle. You know that you are my inspiration for improving my photos. I am even signed up for a class in October.
ReplyDeleteHi Donna! Thanks so much for hosting! I did get your email and I totally understand...no worries =) Enjoy your summer!! It only means another project to add to my list. Hope you have a fantastic holiday weekend - Enjoy! Stephanie Lynn
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting! Can't wait till painting our front door is higher on the priority list. Red? Black? Who knows!
ReplyDeleteYou're so funny, Donna! I'd try all those doors too if I could, but right now I'd settle for painting my dull, boring off-white door any other color in the world. My cottage deserves better! Now that's a GD project if ever I had one :)
ReplyDeleteDonna,
ReplyDeleteNothing to link up, but wanted to thank you for hosting Saturday nights. Always fun events.
hugs and blessings

Oh my how I love unique doors! I was always a red fan, but now I just can't get over the fuscia door and shutters! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI have heard that there was an experiment done in new subdivisions to see what made the houses sell faster.
ReplyDeleteAll these cookie cutter houses were basically the same but they painted several of the front doors yellow.
Every one of those houses with the yellow doors sold first.
Hmmmm.
I love the color of those purple doors and windows. It adds the thang in that view. What's really great about it is that the color of the doors and windows match so it doesn't overdo everything even though the color is very lively.
