I really truly had intended to get a real Christmas tree this year.
But I just had a brainstorm I wanted to fulfil.
Ever get those? An idea pops in your head and you won't rest until you've at the very least attempted it? Yeah, that.
I call this 'The Christmas Tree Forest in a crate.' With slightly twisted top branches, it's just a whimsical take on... trees in a box.
I placed 3 faux trees inside an opened lidded crate, added a star theme, with music sheet cut out stars, and called it good.
I really desired this little grouping to look as forest like as possible, so a twig garland was added to the mix.
My little girl was hard at work, helping direct the way each and every branch was set. Here she's resting on her coffee break beside the Christmas typewriter. Thanks, Teddy!
She's such a funny little shadow to have. Teddy is everywhere I am. I just couldn't adore that fuzzy loaf of chocolate zucchini loaf more. (I was going to say bread but she's too dark for 'just' bread and every cat that sits with their feet under them looks like a loaf of bread, don't you think?)
The Christmas tree forest in a crate is the perfect focal point for this direction in the room.
It just works with that pallet wood coffee table, pallet media stand and old gate shutters.
Funny... everything I have in my home has a strange title. Wonder why? :)
And I'm kinda thinking I don't need a real tree this year after all with this year's ladder tree and this group. Even Teddy agrees!
Now to just convince my junk dislikin' son...

Love your 'out-of-the-box' tree idea! It couldn't be more fun, I ran with my crazy idea this year too! As for the boy ~ food works at my house!

ReplyDeleteDonna I love this. I put one of my trees in a crate this year. I may try this outdoors on my porch. It might get too big though - but you've got me thinking. I LOVE this series! Thanks for doing it.

ReplyDeleteI had a little tree in my room the whole time I was growing up, and I sure loved it. Plus my Mum got to give me the plasticky, junky-in-a-bad-way ornaments left over from years before and I thought they were beautiful! Lol.
I would never in a million years thought you would have a faux tree! I am stunned-but happily so, because if YOU have a faux tree then it is OKAY for ME to have an artificial tree......now if I can only make my own look as cute as yours! xo Diana

It's been a tough year here and the I just didn't have the energy to decorate ...this idea gave me the opportunity to still have a "trees" and not use up much energy. Love it so much will probably use them this way for years to come. I sent you an email with picture hope you got it!
