A treeless ladder Christmas tree - Day 10

12 Days of Christmas, Day 10 via Funky Junk Interiors

Treeless Christmas ladder tree via Funky Junk Interiors - visit to see it lit at night too!

At the time I played with this treeless ladder Christmas tree, I wasn't sure on a few things.

I prefer real trees, but after having gone through two real Christmas trees that died within a week each the last time I had real, I debated on dragging out the faux in storage.

But I didn't want to do a faux one either! Yet I wanted something now. I stared at a ladder leaning against the wall, opened it up and grinned. Why not make a treeless Christmas tree, even if for now?

Inspired by Kelly from Eclectically Vintage's version a couple years back, I applied my own twist to this one.

The good 'ol hydrangeas I've been using so much this year were a big part of the direction I ultimately chose to go. I just loved those paper bag tones!

As luck would have it, I was sent this sweet banner by blog reader Sandra. It says Funky Junk and it is darling! Thanks again Sandra! It is perfect for this funky little number! You can find the banner at her Etsy shop HERE.

And here is my crazy little treeless Christmas tree. For now. Maybe. Maybe it'll just stay. I don't quite know yet. But I like it just fine!

Even if my son begs to differ. :)

Would you like to see how glowy a treeless tree looks in the evening with no branches in the way of the light?

Here you go!

It's a wonderful lamp. :)

The ladder is decked out with just lights and other fun trinket kind of things. No rhyme or reason, just things I liked. Little tarnished looking pots, a vintage hanger or two, cookie looking ornaments, just tone on tone things with a whisper of fresh greens.

I was practising some night shots thanks to Unskinny Boppy Beth's amazing tutorial on how to take glowy pictures of your Christmas tree. Trust me when I say this is the first batch of photos at night that have ever turned out for me! Thanks Beth!

Hydrangeas, twiggy garlands and a few greens are the main decorations.

Charlie Brown, look what you can do with no branches! Snoopy had the right idea all along. Decorate what you already have right under your nose. :)

And just for kicks, here's my last year's stepladder Christmas tree.

Hey, guess what... it's a present day here today!

  4. We had a treeless Christmas the year we were remodeling our living room and sitting room so my husband and the kids decorated the green stepladder. They put lights, ribbons, ornaments and a star on top of the ladder. It still is the Christmas everyone remembers and laughs about.

  7. Donna..I love your style! So unique!! My favorite Christmas memory was when I was about 4 years old and my brother was 1-our hearing "Santa" ho ho ho-ing on the roof and jingle bells- I years later learned it was my precious daddy!! My Momma has a photo of the two of us at that moment..our faces are so dear!! What a magical memory :)!! Becky J abcjones@comcast.net

  12. This is such a pretty Christmas tree, Donna--I just love it! I would totally keep it :) Mine is one I created out of stuff I had on hand, too, this year--necessity is the Mother of invention (smart Mother:), because we don't have room for a regular tree, so a table-topper one it was, and I think it turned out really fun!
